Fed: Silverchair to receive MTV's first Hall of Fame equivalent

Silverchair will receive a lifetime achievement award from Australian MTV at the music
channel's Video Music Awards on Sunday.

The Newcastle rockers will be presented with the first Australian Video Vanguard Award
.. for their profound effect on the MTV culture .. after the release of thir fifth number
one album .. Young Modern.

The award has been presented at the American Video Music Awards since 1984 to artists
including MADONNA .. MICHAEL JACKSON .. The Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Rolling Stones.

MTV executive producer EAN (IAN) THORLEY says the Award is a way of thanking Silverchair
for providing fantastic and progressive soundtracks.
