Fed: Reserve Bank chairman faces parliamentary committee
BRISBANE, Dec 8 AAP - Reserve Bank Governor Ian Macfarlane will appear before a House
of Representatives economics committee hearing in Brisbane today.
The six-monthly hearings are the only forums at which the Reserve Bank publicly answers
questions about bank policy.
Issues expected to be raised include interest rates, the rapid rise of the Australian
dollar and fees for ATMs, EFTPOS and credit card services.
The hearing, which will also involve other Reserve Bank representatives, will be held
at Parliament House from 10am to 1pm (AEST).
