NSW: Govt must get tougher on juvenile arsonists: Face

SYDNEY, Jan 2 AAP - Tougher penalties rather than "soft option" youth conferencingwere needed for juvenile arsonists, a NSW government minister said today.
Gaming and Racing Minister Richard Face, a former policeman who once almost lost hislife in a bushfire, said the community expected a tough stance.
He said the government had to get tough on juveniles who put lives at risk by lighting fires.
Mr Face, who almost died in a bushfire in 1968, yesterday made a citizen's arrest ofa teenager running away from a blaze in the Hunter Valley.
